WVPE’s Annual Professional Dues are only $125.! Sound Too Good To Be True? The unions have tried to deflate interest in WVPE by warning that “you get what you pay for.” That’s true, We are not a union, we are a professional association. In addition to the benefits already listed, we offer the opportunity to network with the professionals having similar views as well as the peace of mind which affordable group insurance provides. Ironically, many union members complain that their dues are paying for a lot of things they don’t want. Independent teacher associations exist in at least twenty-two states where teachers have been receiving excellent insurance and legal protection for years at a fraction of the cost of belonging to a union. In fact in Georgia, Texas, and Missouri, the independent associations have grown larger than the unions. |

It is time to think about WVPE membership for the 2009-10 school year. If you signed up for payroll deduction on a continuous basis, there are no forms for you to fill out and you will be receiving your new membership card shortly.
If you joined on an annual basis through payroll deduction you must complete another application and return to the address on the application along with a copy to your payroll office. If you pay annually with check you also need to complete the application and send to the address on the application.
If your professional status has changed and you are planning to work as a substitute this next school year, you can still belong to WVPE and receive our services, including insurance, by enrolling for $65.00. Active membership dues are $125.00. If you have retired, you can join as a “Friend” member for $20.00 and receive all our mailings. |

If you have been wishing for a professional alternative to the partisan politics and social agendas of the national teacher unions, this is your opportunity. These social issues are important, but they are also personal; so personal, in fact, that a truly professional association should not assume the right to speak for you. As you search through our web site we feel sure that your beliefs as a dedicated educator are the same as ours. If so you can fill out the application on page 6 and mail to the address located at the bottom of the page.
